End of the Year Update: Concord Elementary School

 

Concord Families,

 

We would like to thank our families again for all that you have done the past few months to support your child’s learning through these unprecedented times.  We know that this has not been easy and we are looking forward to the return of a normal school day. We miss our kids!  The following is some additional information on a variety of topics that we would like to share with our families: 

 

Instruction and Support: 

May 15th was the last day to post new assignments.  Staff will continue to support instruction/activities May 18th-22nd. Please continue to communicate with teachers if you have any questions or need any support. 

 

Reminder- Pick Up Personal Items and Drop Off School Property: 

On May 26th-29th we have scheduled times for parents to pick up personal items from the cafeteria and to return Chromebooks, library books, and classroom resources. Please do not bring students with you. If the schedule listed below does not work for you, please contact the office and we will work on an alternative plan. Fifth Grade Parade: 

On May 28th from 6:30-7:30 PM fifth grade students and their families are welcome to drive through Concord Elementary’ s drop off line area to be recognized by our fifth grade and related arts teachers.   It is important that we practice social distancing during this fifth grade parade.   Fifth grade staff and related arts teachers will be practicing social distancing and we ask all students/families to remain in cars as they travel through the Concord parking lot.  We must limit the number of staff participants to meet the requirement of no mass gatherings.  We know all staff wish the fifth grade class well on their journey to sixth grade and wish that they too could be at the parade. (Additional information will be sent out to fifth grade families.)

 

Class Lists/Scheduling/Open House and Parent Meetings: 

We are working on the process of establishing class lists and master schedules for the 2020-2021 school year.   Due to these unprecedented times, families will receive a letter in early August with student classroom placement, the plan to start the school year, safety procedures, a plan for open house/parent meetings if we are permitted to hold gatherings, and any scheduling updates.  We will continue to monitor state guidelines and use requirements to guide our planning for the 2020-2021 school year.  

 

Kindergarten Registration:  

We know that many of our families have completed the online kindergarten application process.   The following is a web link to the online application (Click Here).  This is the first step in completing the registration process.  The next step in the process is to submit important paper records to complete the process.  The district is working on an early date in June for families to complete the steps.   Additional information will be sent out by the district office.  

 

Cookie Dough, Yearbooks, and Spring Pictures: Pick Up of Items 

We are working on confirming a date in June for pick up of the following items: cookie dough, yearbooks (if you ordered a yearbook), and spring pictures. The tentative date for this is June 11th from 3:00-6:30 PM. We will send out additional information once the date is confirmed.

 

Purchasing of a Yearbook: If you have not ordered a Yearbook. 

Additional yearbooks can be ordered by contacting Mrs. Grimm at grimm-w@troy.k12.oh.us  The last day to order a yearbook is Wednesday, May 20th. 

 

Father Daughter Dance:

The Concord Father Daughter Dance for grades 3-5 was scheduled for March 13th and was sponsored by the student council. It was cancelled due to the closure of schools.   We know that families had paid to participate in the event and we are sorry that we were not able to host the event this school year.  Funds from the event go to support the student council and activities that they sponsor throughout the school year.  If you would like your funds to be used for future events as a donation, you do not need to contact us.  If you would like a refund, please contact Mrs. Grimm at grimm-w@troy.k12.oh.us  by May 22nd.  We are hopeful to continue this event next spring.  Thank you for all your support!
