THS Key Club offering online tutoring

Members of the Troy High School Key Club have come up with a Canvas course intended as a tutoring resource for any K-12 student in the district.

Due to the inconsistent schedules caused by COVID-19, many students are struggling academically due to long periods of time away from the classroom. The Key Club hopes this will be an effective way for students from every grade level to reach out if ever they need help. The course has been set up in the simplest way possible.

On the Home page is a short message that tells the student there are about 100 members of the Key Club who are eager to help them. Below that are five subjects (Math, Science, Language Arts, History or Another subject) which, when they are clicked, lead to a Discussion post. In order to get help, students need to reply in that post by providing the subject they need help with, their teacher for that subject, their school email address, and their question or need.

Key Club members will do their best to respond to a student’s question in at least 24 hours by emailing them directly. All communication will be done through Troy City School accounts. This will allow for filtering and monitoring. We are going to do all we can to avoid any cheating or misuse of this Canvas course. Though, we hope students will be responsible as they reach out to us for help. There may be small adjustments that need to be made along the way, and we will be sure to notify you of any changes. On behalf of all Key Club members, we hope this tutoring resource is simple to use and will be beneficial to all students in Troy City Schools.
